ParlorWave Radio is developed by Aaron Tech Consultants, Inc., an independent engineering studio based in Wisconsin. We build software that turns Home Assistant and Music Assistant into a personal, continuously programmed home radio station.
Playlists play tracks. A radio station keeps you company.
Streaming playlists and shuffled queues are great at playing songs back-to-back, but they lack the rhythm, context, and sense of place that made classic broadcast radio feel alive in a kitchen, living room, or workshop.
Meanwhile, Home Assistant already knows the weather outside, the time of day, and what is on the household calendar—and Music Assistant already manages our music libraries and multi-room speakers. What was missing was the broadcast booth between them.
We built ParlorWave Radio so that Music Assistant plays the music while ParlorWave runs the station: scripting short between-song DJ breaks, airing real recorded RSS news bulletins each hour, announcing household calendar reminders between songs, and presenting the entire station through a warm, retro-inspired broadcast console.

Respect the Queue
Music Assistant owns playback. When following your queue, ParlorWave Radio never reorders your songs—it schedules finite spoken breaks and news bulletins cleanly at track boundaries.
Deterministic Baseline
A home radio station should not depend on an external cloud API to function. Our built-in deterministic writer scripts every break locally, and takes over automatically whenever an optional Ollama writing model is offline or its draft is rejected.
Broadcast Craft
Software inside a smart home shouldn’t feel like a spreadsheet. We design our console with aged brass, warm walnut tones, illuminated rotary controls, and clear studio feedback that works on both desktop and phone screens.
